BEST SPOTS FOR CHRISTMAS SHOPING IN LONDON

A part of my heart was, is and will always be in London. So no, I can’t be particularly objective when it comes to that side of the world, but I can be objective about one thing: Christmas is when London turns into a ‘Love Actually’ set and everything becomes a bit more romantic – including shops! And, although there are plenty of shops to choose from, these are just some of my favourite Christmas shopping spots that have that something special!

Mount Street Printers. If you still believe in the old-fashioned magic of paper printing, cards and envelopes don’t skip Mount Street Printers. Not only can you find some of the highest quality printers, notebooks, table stationary and the cutest cards but you can also get your very own personalized stationery with your own name or little message.

Located in the heart of Mayfair, it is the perfect place to get your Christmas cards, envelopes, or festive table place cards! And don’t leave this unique shop without checking out their window display. Most of the time it’s a piece of art itself…and all made of what else…paper!

Farm Shop. As the name indicates, Farm Shop is all about seasonal, local and ‘from the farm’ food. In a chaotic city like London, where at times knowing where your food is coming from may seem mission impossible, stepping in a place like this is a very welcome surprise. Meat, local cheeses, wine, vinegar, chocolates and chutneys are just some of the products that can be found on the shelves.

And there is a pastry section too – one of the best cinnamon buns I’ve ever had! All products come from the owner’s farm in Somerset or other local and community farmers and producers.

The best thing about it? Everything looks so authentic, cute and beautifully packaged that it’s hard to resist. Definitely a great place to source your festive table delicacies or gift a little something to a fellow food lover.  The second-best thing? There is a secret wine bar on the lower ground floor ready to accommodate all wine lovers!

Paxton & Whitfield. With over 270 years’ experience in cheese making and an amazing variety of artisan British cheeses, Paxton & Whitfield is the oldest cheesemonger in London and undoubtedly every cheese lover’s go-to place!

But even if you have absolutely no idea about cheese, the moment you step into this cheese paradise, you can easily turn into a big cheese addict: from the sweet flavours of Cullum cheese to the intense smokiness of Westcombe smoked Cheddar cheese, there is high quality cheese for everyone!

And it’s not just about cheese. I simply love their Multiseed & Black Pepper Biscuits. No wonder why they are the official cheesemonger of the Royal family!

The Sea, The Sea. If you love the sea and all the culinary treasures in it, then this fishmonger will solve all your Christmas day needs. A sophisticated fish and shellfish store by day, and a cute seafood and champagne bar by night, The Sea, The Sea also offers gift vouchers for those that look for a special last minute Christmas gift.

Bageriet. It is hard to find a proper bakery in London. I mean one of those that still bake everything fresh…but I found one! Located in a tiny alley a few steps away from Covent Garden station, Bageriet is the perfect place to buy some Christmas cookies and some deliciously aromatic orange and berries tea. And if you go there just before Christmas, you will have one of the most romantic, straight out of a fairytale bakery experience!
