MARGIORA
KYTHNOS
GREECE

There is one specific evening during my stay on Kythnos that has been clearly stamped on my memory, and that’s the evening I had dinner at Margiora, a restaurant for those in search of something beyond tavernas.

Don’t misunderstand me…there is nothing wrong with tavernas. Quite the opposite…I can’t even imagine a Greek island without tavernas. But if you are willing to embark on a more adventurous culinary journey and take a break from the typical Greek dishes, then Margiora is where to eat while on Kythnos island!

Located in Chora, the main town of the island, Margiora adds a freshness to the Kythnian food scene. Playful cocktails. Creative dishes with typical Greek ingredients. A beautiful Cycladic mansion. These are the three things that make Margiora so memorable!

Local ingredients celebrate the roots of Kythnian cuisine while at the same time a few more ‘exotic’ touches add an element of originality and sophistication to each dish.

Sea bream bruschetta, beetroot salad, and tuna tiradito with watermelon dressing are just a few of my favourite ones. In fact, I can still recall the intriguing flavour combinations while I am writing these words - something that really makes me want to go back!

But an evening at Margiora is an experience that goes beyond the kitchen because apart from gastronomy there is also…mixology! In other words, Margiora’s cocktails are as yummy, summery and refreshing as their dishes.
