How special can a picnic be? This was the main question popping into my head on my way to Lagonisi beach. I have been in many fancy and less fancy restaurants around Athens. But let me tell you something…none of them beats the magic of a special picnic on an Athenian beach.
Luxury Picnic and Elina, the founder, know exactly how to create something really soothing for the eyes and soul. The key ingredients? Great sunset views, the sound of waves, the Athenian breeze and attention to detail.
Just a few kilometres away from Athens’ centre, my two-hour picnic on the beach was a dream. A fairytale with a lot of sun glitter and the scent of the sea.
It made me realise the importance of being in the here and now. The importance of completely soaking up the moment.
No waiter to interrupt our conversations. No noise to bring us back to reality. Two hours were enough to finally make me ‘breathe’. Breathe properly, deeply, slowly and let go.
I left rebooted. My lungs were full of oxygen. My eyes full of sunlight. My brain full of clarity and my soul full of glitter.
I left feeling a little bit more romantic. Romantic towards life’s ordinary moments. After all, they are not so ordinary, are they? And if you ask me about the sound of waves? A totally romantic love song!
