Cosy inside out Pillhof is an elegant wine bar with a great selection of wine. Located in Appiano and just a few minutes away from Bolzano, Pillhof is all about the wine experience. A classy wine experience.
Walls are covered by hundreds of interesting wine bottles ready to be tasted. Some more prestigious and some more humble. Some more ordinary and some more experimental. And most of the time you will overhear discussions about tannins, acidity, secondary and tertiary aromas.
Wine geeks like me can taste not only regional labels and varieties by the bottle but also by the glass. Think about great glasses of Barbaresco, Ripasso, Lugano or Riesling just to name a few.
And although it is a place for all wine lovers and wine geeks, it is also a great place to enjoy a Saturday lunch or dinner with family and friends of every age. In fact, food at Pillhof perfectly completes the wine experience. Seasonal risotto, handmade pasta or a couple of sophisticated snacks perfectly accompany any glass of wine.
I have spent endless after-work summer evenings sipping great orange wines with great balance and complexity. I have spent many cozy winter Saturdays sharing warm pumpkin risottos with friends.
