CASTEL SALLEGG VINERIA
ITALY
Arriving at Castel Sallegg Vineria for the first time felt like a mini visual and mental break from the hustle and bustle of the surroundings – especially on a summer day.

Located among the vineyards of Caldaro and just a few steps away from the village’s main centre, Castel Sallegg Vineria is something between a bistro, a wine bar, a vineyard, and a winery. Above all, it is my go-to place for a never-disappointing lunch.

It is the perfect place for a midday reset with friends, a work break with colleagues or a quick lunch paired with a glass of wine and a book for those who prefer solo dining. Dishes are simple, light and most of the time interesting. The small yet satisfying menu changes almost daily. Something that always makes me look forward to my next visit.

Pastas and risottos cooked to perfection are most of the time the main culinary highlight while the service is always fast and friendly. Isn’t it great when you are greeted by people that love what they do, and they show it with a big smile on their face?

When it comes to wine…it’s simply impossible to forget you are on South Tyrol’s famous wine route as everything is about wine. In fact, the Vineria is part of Castel Sallegg and Kuenburg family's estate – one of the main wine estates in Caldaro. That’s why I never say no to a glass of ‘Leopoldine’ Pinot Bianco!

Or should I say Pinot Blanc? Because, although food and wines are all locally sourced, for sure Castel Sallegg Vineria brings a bit of Provence vibe into Caldaro's dining landscape.

Not sure if it is thanks to the beautiful outdoor setting, the lush green vineyard views, or the relaxed yet lively energy. Potentially, something to think about over a glass of wine and some yummy pasta during my next visit!
