PELAGOS
ATHENS
GREECE
As soon as I walked through the entrance of Pelagos restaurant, I felt the powerful influence of the sea. For a few seconds I thought I had just embarked on a mediterranean cruise. I was comfortably sipping my delicious cocktail on the deck while waiting for someone to accompany me to my cabin.

But no. Instead, I was brought back to reality and accompanied to my table. Did it really matter? Not really, as the view and the summer breeze on my tanned face felt equally exciting.

And in fact, I was about to embark on a journey. A journey created by Pelagos and its team. A journey that would take me all across the Aegean Sea.

Located inside Four Seasons Hotel, right at the heart of the upscale Vouliagmeni Peninsula, Pelagos restaurant is all about the sea.

With a menu inspired by the ocean itself, and stunning views of the sun dipping into the sea, this place definitely makes the Athenian fine dining scene a bit more fascinating!

So no, I did not go on a cruise, but I did travel to Santorini, Crete, Kalymnos and Sifnos in one evening. Or, to be more precise it wasn’t me but my taste buds that did all the travelling!

Sun-dried tomato cream, yellowtail ceviche, pistachio, verbena and red prawns are just some of the ingredients that Luca Piscazzi and his team put together and made this culinary trip so playful and refreshing.

And I say playful because Pelagos’ food pairing takes flavour and texture to the next level. It’s a constant interchange between sweet and salty, velvety and crunchy…an excellent interplay of lobster and rabbit, sole and sage…exactly like in a Pelagos -the Greek word for the ocean- where serene gentle laps transition to agitating waves and deep blues mix with emerald hues.
