They say that couples that visit Santorini Island either break up or get married. No matter which category you belong to, no matter if you believe the legend or not, one thing is certain; Santorini has something extremely wild and romantic, as long as you find the right place to stay.
And The Vasilicos, located on a cliff in the picturesque village of Imerovigli,is definitely one of the most special and romantic places to stay in Santorini.
What makes it so special? Obviously, the spectacular views of the caldera and the Aegean Sea. But it’s not just that. It’s the intimacy. It’s the calmness. it’s the privacy.It’s the thoughtfulness. It’s the feeling of really being at home. Every single detail is so well-thought and carefully considered that, from time to time, you forget you are at a hotel. That’s exactly what happened to me.
A bunch of Greece-inspired books, such as ‘Zorba the Greek’, local snacks, as well as a wide selection of feminine hygiene productsand other personal items that I found in my room made it clear that someone had really thought about the details. I kept forgetting I was at the heart of one of the most touristy villages of the planet. It really felt like staying at a friend’s place…simply so personal!
No pretentiousness. Somehow, most of this place’s guests know to appreciate sincerity and tranquillity. They are not there for Santorini’s glam, nor Instagram. They are there to admire the unique views, live in the moment and create their own story – most probably a love story. And maybe that’s what makes the vibes of this place so romantic…almost poetic I would dare to say.
No front desk fake smiles. They say that a sincere smile can make your day. And this is what you get at The Vasilicos. Every member of the staff, from the person that helps you with your luggage to the person that serves your breakfast, is sincerely happy to welcome you and make your stay as unique as possible.
No boring breakfast. Instead, your day at The Vasilicos starts in a very Greek and delicious way. Breakfast is served at your terrace and just like that, you ease yourself into a brand-new day withtruly home-madelocal delicacies, sunshine, and stunning views.
My favourite part? The magic moment when dusk starts settling. That’s when The Vasilicos becomes even more special. This is when youget to experience Santorini’s long summer nights away from the crowds while watching the lights twingle on the horizon! Now, if that’s not something special then what is it?
