CAOL ISHKA
ITALY
Don’t let the name deceive you. 'Caol Ishka’ means 'sound of water’ in Scottish Gaelic but this hotel is certainly not located in Scotland.
It is located a few thousand miles away from Scotland, and only a few minutes’ drive away from Syracuse centre. Check it out for dinner or even spend some days there - most probably you will not regret it.
Someone might wonder why not staying in the centre of the town having gone all the way to South East Sicily and Syracuse, a beautiful little town with great history and nice sea-views.
True! Syracuse is undoubtedly beautiful and that’s also why it is listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site. However being a typical southern Italian town, Syracuse, doesn’t lack cars, busy streets or a 'crowded’ atmosphere.
So if you want to enjoy Syracuse and still enjoy some privacy, peacefulness and harmony, the place to stay is 'Caol Ishka’ hotel.
As its name indicates, on a quiet night you can indeed hear the water running down the Anapo river from your balcony. But that’s not all.
All rooms are different and decently decorated but what stands out is the beautiful, colourful, yet simple outdoor space. As soon as you approach the hotel you will realise what I am talking about. The beautiful courtyard welcomes you and invites you to explore this secret little oasis.
The mix of colours, materials and geometric shapes together with palms, cactus and colourful little flower pots create a playful environment which is in itself enough to keep you happy.
The friendly hotel staff, some Italian wine and some Parma ham with melon will definitely complete the experience. You will want to go back! Find out more here.
